ToneSpec Vintage Clone Series – PF-57 Humbucker Set

A Tribute to Peter Florance and the VooDoo That Sparked the PAF Revolution

Before 1959 and 1960 made PAFs famous, there was 1957, the year it all began. The earliest Gibson humbuckers weren’t just the foundation of modern electric tone, they were alive, unpredictable, and full of raw harmonic character that modern winds just can’t fake.

Peter Florance understood this better than anyone. His VooDoo ’57 Humbuckers were his most rare, and arguably his most inspired. Built to recreate the unique sound of those early, low-wind, unrefined PAFs, his design was prized for its immediacy, touch response, and biting vocal midrange.

We’ve brought that sound back, with the ToneSpec PF-57.

This set isn’t a smoothed-out ’59 or a polite ’60, it’s a wilder, woodier, more expressive beast. Perfect for players who want early PAF attitude: harmonically rich, slightly microphonic, and capable of shifting from bell-like cleans to snarling breakup with just your pick attack.

This is a player’s pickup, dynamic, unforgiving, and rewarding in all the right ways.

Peter Florance built the VooDoo ’57 for players who didn’t want smooth, they wanted real. Now due to popular demand, we’ve brought it back.

And if you’re wondering if we’re qualified to handle it, we’ve already cloned the greatest voices in boutique pickup history: Tom Holmes, Virgil Arlo, Tim White, Abigail Ybarra, Alan Hamel, and of course, Peter Florance.

So if you’re chasing that raw, first-year PAF tone, complete with the magic and mystery of 1957, we’ve got you covered.
