One of the most requested one-offs was the "Statesboro" design, which was based on the 1961 SG originally owned by Dickey Betts. He played this guitar on the the legendary Statesboro Blues recording. The guitar was later owned by Duane Allman.

During the R&D process, the Black Label design was directly compared to the original pickups from the legendary 1961 Gibson SG. The tone is spot on.

If you are chasing that Statesboro tone, this is the set.

How to order Virgil Arlo Black Label Pickups:

Black Label PAFs were originally sold for $1200 per set.

Starting in 2022 we reached an agreement to produce the Virgil Arlo Black Label Reissues. There has been a conflict regarding licensing fees. As a result, we were never able to offer them for sale at our site for the 2023 run. The conflict remains unresolved but we've reached an agreement to sell the few sets from the 1961 Black Label inventory made over on ebay.

    More About Black Label One-Offs:

Over the years Virgil Arlo offered one-off service to select pro players. Most times the player was trying to replace a lost guitar from the past or replicate the tone of one of his preferred vintage guitars in a more modern guitar for touring purposes.

This was always a team effort between the musician and the staff. The musician provided the inspiration and Virgil Arlo wound the pickups.
